Growley Pipes

Rhodesian Green: $345 (Available)

This little Rhodesian sports a green top and a black blasted bottom. The blast shows some nice ring grain. The pipe was carved from a fine piece of Italian briar. The stem was hand cut out of German Ebonite and fashioned with a comfort bit. The end cap was hand carved out of a nice piece of green and black cumberland. As with all my pipes, I’ve opened this pipe up properly to give it the the right air flow to provide a cool dry smoke.

In addition, this pipe come with an extra alternative stem for free! (I couldn’t decide which I liked better)

Squanto Cartoon Classic Morta Pot: $385 (Available)

April 14, 2016GrowleyUncategorized

This Cartoon Classic Pot is based on the classic Pot shape, but made entirely out of proportion to give it that cartoon look. Back in the 80’s some artists drew cartoon versions of muscle cars by shortening them, making the wheels ridiculously large, and exaggerating the curves. I thought it would be fun to do a series of classic pipes with the same concept in mind.

This Pot is made out of Morta wood  that is estimated to be about 5,500 years old. I blasted blasted to show off the wonderful grain.

The stem was hand carved from German Ebonite, adorned with a German Indian Blue accent ring, and was fitted with a comfort fit button, which makes it comfortable and easy to hold in your mouth. As with all my pipes, I’ve opened this pipe up properly to give it the the right air flow to provide a cool dry smoke.

Devil Anse 2016: $345 (Available)

March 24, 2016GrowleyUncategorized

Everyone has a different idea of what the Devil Anse pipe should look like. And I’ve created multiple versions of what was smoked by Kevin Costner, on the TV Miniseries Hatfields & McCoys. Some look close, and some are way off by design.

As it turns out, the pipe he uses doesn’t fit most of our conventional standards of a pipe, in that it doesn’t actually have a removable stem. This is the first Devil Anse pipe I’ve made in 2016, and I think it makes a fine version indeed.

The briar used is the best Italian Briar sold. It has some very detailed and tight birdseye on both sides, and sweeping grain across the front and back of the bowl.

The stem was hand carved from German Ebonite and  fitted with a comfort fit button, which makes it comfortable and easy to hold in your mouth. As with all my pipes, I’ve opened this pipe up properly to give it the the right air flow to provide a cool dry smoke.

The Withywindle: (SOLD)

Hey dol! merry dol! ring a dong dillo! This is the pipe of Iarwain Ben-adar, Forn, he who is Eldest. Bright blue his jacket is, and his boots are yellow. The wood was cut from the canebrakes of the Withywindle itself. If you plan on sitting beneath a willow tree any time soon, take this along, as it’s like to bring a song to your mind (though who could say why?). And of course, singing keeps the wicked willows at bay. Smoke with Old Toby.

– Panegyrics by Adam Whipple

I dreamt this pipe up quite literally. I awoke with this shape in mind and thought I’d give it a try. This pipe was had carved from the finest Italian briar. The blast shows some nice ring grain around the belly of the bowl, and some pretty birdseye pattern on the back. The bamboo is a nice 6 knuckle yellow bamboo.

The stem was hand cut out of German Ebonite, and  was fashioned with a comfort bit. As with all my pipes, I’ve opened this pipe up properly to give it the the right air flow to provide a cool dry smoke.
